Where To Take Your Mum for Mother’s Day in Birmingham
With Mother’s Day just around the corner, how about surprising your mum with a trip to Birmingham, England’s second city? This vibrant metropolis has a wealth of cultural treasures to explore, including the National Exhibition Centre and Birmingham Museum Art and Gallery, making it a nice change from the far more obvious (and far busier) London. Here are some tips to where to go and what do to when taking your mum on a trip to Brum. Want to find out what made the list? Read on!
1. Cadbury World
If your mum’s a fan of chocolate, she’ll love Cadbury World, one of the city’s most visited attractions. Cadbury World was opened in 1990 by Morgan Anderson on the site of the chocolate brand’s manufacturing plant. Since then, the attraction has expanded rapidly, now featuring a museum and tour that tells the story of Bournville, a local area synonymous with chocolate production. You can even experience chocolate tasting on one of the tours or purchase products from the Cadbury gift shop, making this the perfect place to while away a few hours on Mother’s Day.
2. Bull Ring
The Bull Ring is one of the largest indoor shopping centres in Europe, spanning three floors and featuring fashion flagship stores, department stores, bars, restaurants and unique boutiques. Shop til you drop in some of the country’s best-loved stores or grab a bite to eat in the food court, where you’ll find fast food and plenty of places to sit and relax after a long day’s shopping. If outdoor shopping’s more your thing, head over the Jewellery Quarter, where you’ll find pubs, bars, and, of course, more shops!
3. National Sea Life Centre
The National Sea Life Centre is one of the UK’s biggest aquariums, with more than sixty different marine exhibits to explore and various displays for the whole family. There’s plenty to see, do and experience at the National Sea Life Centre, including a gift shop and more than 5,000 sea creatures. The attraction opened in 1996 and today includes a 4D cinema, providing a multi-sensory experience that you’ll love. This is one place you might want to take your mum on Mothers Day Birmingham!
4. Villa Park
Villa Park is a Birmingham institution, a local landmark that is instantly recognisable to the city’s population. If your mum’s a sports fan, she’ll love a stadium tour at Villa Park, which takes in the expansive grounds and tells the story of one of Europe’s most successful football clubs.
