Cathedral&MeetingRoomsThere is nothing quite like the beautiful wedding photos to preserve the memories of your special day. Of course, to get the kind of pictures that you will enjoy for a lifetime it is imperative to pick the perfect location to have your photos taken. Derby is a city in the East Midlands region of England that lies on the banks of the River Derwent. There are a few exciting options for memorable wedding photos in Derby, UK.

First, Darley Abbey is a historic mill village that is now a suburb of the city of Derby. It is located about a mile and a half north of the city center and lies on the west bank of the River Derwent. Darley Abby is 80 acres of picturesque gardens and wildlife areas, perfect for outdoor photos. Also, in the heart of this location lies the stunning St. Matthew’s Church.
Another church ideal for picture taking is the Derby Cathedral, also known as the Cathedral of All Saints. This gothic, neoclassical church was completed in 1725 and its tower soars to height of 212ft., making it one of the most recognizable sights in the Derby skyline.

One more church in Derby that is definitely worth visiting is St. Mary’s. St. Mary’s Church is a Roman Catholic Church that stands on Bridge Gate overlooking St. Alkmund’s Way. This beautiful church was originally completed in 1839, but has undergone many renovations over the years. It was most recently renovated in 2007.

An alternative to taking pictures at churches might be to visit the historic eighteenth century St. Helen’s House. Architect Joseph Pickford built this Palladian style house between 1766 and 1767. Although the interior has been altered over the years, the original façade remains intact. This could provide a wonderful backdrop for your wedding photos.

Finally, an exquisite outdoor location for wedding photos in Derby, UK is the Derby Arboretum. This arboretum and park is located about a mile south of the Derby city centre. It was the first publicly owned and landscaped recreational park in England. It is listed on the English Heritage Register of Parks and Gardens of Special Historic Interest in England and would be a gorgeous landscape for some very memorable wedding photographs.

Derby, UK is a unique and beautiful city. It has a lot of history to offer and I am sure that will show no matter which venue you choose to have your photo shoot.
